Email Retention Policy
The following rules apply to the retention of emails in your Verizon Online email
account ([your user name]@verizon.net).
- All email in your inbox or personal folders that is either unread or marked unread
will be deleted after 90 days.
- All read email will be retained indefinitely as long as you do not exceed the maximum
storage quota for your mailbox. You can determine the available storage space for
your mailbox via the Email Storage window in the left column of your mailbox.
- All email in the trash folder will be deleted after 2 days.
- All email in the Spam detector folder will be deleted after 4 days.
Email Inactivity Policy
Mailboxes that are inactive for 120 days will be closed. We will notify you by email
of our intent to close the inactive mailbox 7 days before it is to be closed. If
you access your mailbox during this 7-day notice period, your mailbox will not be
closed.
For the purposes of this policy, a mailbox will be considered "active" if you do
any of the following:
- Access your mailbox to read your mail,
- Send a message from your mailbox,
- Log into either of Verizon’s Netmail or Webmail services
- Set up automatic forwarding of your e-mail.
IMPORTANT:When the mailbox is closed no new email addressed to [your user name]@verizon.net
will be received.
As long as you remain a Verizon Online subscriber, you may reopen a closed mailbox
and retain your email address and alias by logging into your email account. If you
reopen a closed mailbox within 30 days of the date on which it was closed, all email
that was in your mailbox on the date it was closed, along with your folders, address
book and preferences, will remain intact. If, however, you reopen a closed mailbox
more than 30 days after the date on which it was closed, all email that was in your
mailbox on the date it was closed, along with your folders, address book and preferences
will have been removed.
Limitations on Sending Email
The following limits apply with respect to the sending of e-mail from your verizon.net
e-mail account. These rules are in place in order to help fight spam (i.e., unsolicited
e-mail). For more information on Verizon Online’s efforts to fight spam, please see the
Verizon Online Anti-Spam Policy at
http://business.verizon.net/policies/antispammingpolicy.aspx.
- You may not include more than 100 recipients in a single email. Messages will not
be sent to any recipients in excess of 100.
- You may not exceed 500 recipients in 1 hour. Exceeding 500 recipients in 1 hour
will result in the suspension of your ability to send email for 24 hours. This does
not affect your ability to receive email.
Sub-Accounts
In addition to a primary email address, broadband customers are permitted to establish
up to 8 additional e-mail accounts, commonly referred to as sub-accounts, associated
with their primary Verizon Online email account. Sub-accounts can be deleted and
new sub-accounts created, up to a lifetime maximum of 25 sub-accounts per primary
Verizon Online email address.
